The site is located within the Haworth Water Treatment Plant located in Haworth, New Jersey. The proposed upgrades included the construction of a liquid oxygen storage facility and a residuals handling facility.
A sheet pile system installation was constructed to retain an approximately 135 feet long excavation which was required for the construction of the proposed plant upgrades. JZN Engineering performed engineering analysis and design recommendations for the stability of the temporary sheet pile wall that was under construction. The study involved a seepage analysis which included local and global stability analyses due to seepage.
Additionally, JZN provided the design of the dewatering system to be implemented during excavation activities in order to lower the existing water table elevation and facilitate construction activities.

The proposed project included the construction of a private sewer line and related structures, a private water main line, new sidewalks and road pavement to be performed at 57th Avenue near the intersection of 43rd Street in Maspeth, Borough of Queens, City & State of New York. The site is bounded by a commercial building and parking lot areas to the south, 43rd Street to the west, an undeveloped area to the east and railroad tracks followed by 56th Road to the north.
The proposed sewer line and manholes were designed to be supported on driven timber piles. JZN Engineering performed engineering analyses to provide the timber piles’ axial compression capacity and installation specifications. Additionally, JZN provided construction quality control during construction activities which included the inspection of the deep driven timber pile foundations, excavation and backfill operations during the installation of the sewer line and the water main components, and road and sidewalks subgrade inspection.

The project site included the installation of a ConEd Vault to be located within an existing concrete sidewalk associated with the property located at 295 Locust Avenue Borough of Bronx, City & State of New York.
JZN Engineering provided geotechnical engineering services to explore the subsurface conditions at the site, estimate engineering characteristics of the proposed foundation bearing and subgrade soils, and provide geotechnical criteria for the preparation of the vault foundation design and specifications. Recommendations included the overexcavation of unsuitable soils and controlled backfill followed by the construction of a mat foundation in support of the proposed Con Ed Vault. Additionally, JZN provided Support of Excavation (SOE) design consisting of sheet pile walls, walers and struts.

The project site included the installation of four (4) ConEd Vaults and one (1) bus compartment to be located within the existing concrete sidewalk associated with the property located at 825 East 141st Street in the Borough of Bronx, City & State of New York.
JZN Engineering provided geotechnical engineering services to explore the subsurface conditions at the site, estimate engineering characteristics of the proposed foundation bearing and subgrade soils, and provide geotechnical criteria for the preparation of the vault foundation design and specifications. The geotechnical investigation was conducted by means of drilling soil exploration borings to explore the subsurface soils, bedrock and groundwater conditions.
JZN designed and recommended the utilization of a deep foundation system consisting of driven H-piles in support of the proposed structures, and provided recommendations for site preparation, earthwork and construction considerations.

The site is located on an undeveloped parcel bordering the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) and to the north of a commercial development with associated paved parking lots in Cranbury, New Jersey.

JZN performed engineering analyses to evaluate and design a support of excavation system consisting of sheet piles to be utilized during excavation activities required for the Napp Grecco Pipeline remediation.
Additionally, JZN coordinated a vibration monitoring program to continuously record induced vibrations generated during construction activities. The program was developed to monitor the neighboring building located to the south of the site and the existing pipeline.

The Power Activated Carbon System is located within the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission in the Borough of Wanaque, Passaic County, New Jersey.
The proposed system included the construction of two 14 feet diameter PAC Silos with heights of approximately 60 feet each resting on a concrete floor slab to be supported on a deep foundation system.
JZN was retained to design the deep foundation elements in support of the two PAC Silos. The foundation system consisted of micropile elements bearing on rock.
JZN provided construction quality control during the installation of the micropile components including grout sampling and testing. In addition, JZN supervised and analyzed the micropile load test program.

The site is located along Mountain Road in the City of Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. The site is bordered by a retaining wall followed by Mountain Road to the west; Mountain Road to the east and south; and The Cliffs development to the north.

The development included the construction of a pavement foundation for a 60 ft ICW 1200R crane. The crane is supported on tires inflated to 100 psi and travels along the railroad tracks (approximately 2,000 ft). The referenced crane is supported on concrete pavement. In addition, the construction of an approximately 70 x 10 ft motor truck scale was proposed at the site. The site is located along Ingham Ave. in the City of Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey.
JZN Engineering performed a geotechnical investigation to obtain information on subsurface soil and groundwater conditions, and to provide recommendations for the proposed rail crane pavement foundations and truck scale foundation design and related earthwork. JZN provided geotechnical criteria for use by the design engineers in preparing the truck scale foundation and rail crane pavement foundation designs; and recommendations for earthwork and construction.
JZN recommendations included the implementation of a deep foundation system consisting of drilled piers to support the truck scale, and design recommendations for the utilization of flexible heavy duty pavement and rigid pavement for the construction of the rail crane pavement foundation.

The project included the construction of an Armament Integration Facility Addition for the US Army Picatinny Arsenal located at 1st Avenue in the Town of Picatinny, Morris County, New Jersey.

The project site is located near the southern border of the NJ Turnpike in the Borough of Runnemede, Camden County, New Jersey. An existing gas pipeline running parallel to the NJ Turnpike was found to have an anomaly that required repair; therefore, a temporary support of excavation system was required to allow the safe access to the pipeline.
JZN conducted a geotechnical investigation program to obtain information on subsurface soils and groundwater conditions in order to design the required shoring system. Following the geotechnical investigation program, JZN prepared a support of excavation design (SOE) consisting of sheet piles supported with a tie-back system.

The project involved the construction of three billboard signs to be located within the Colonial Pipe Line Property, along the New Jersey Turnpike, at 400 Blair Road in the Township of Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
Each billboard sign is 62 feet in total height consisting of approximately 19 feet by 60 feet frame supported on an approximately 48-inch diameter pole that is approximately 43 feet height. JZN was retained to evaluate the required foundation system for the three billboard signs.

The project involved the construction of a Verizon Telecommunication Antenna to be located at an existing retail store within the Metro Shoppers Mall at 1281 Arthur Kill Road in the Borough of Staten Island, City and State of New York.
The structure consists of a unipole with mounted antennas which extends above the existing building’s roof. The unipole is supported by a frame structure constructed inside the retail store and supported on a concrete pad.
