The rock face stability assessment required the stabilization of an approximately 540 feet long existing rock face cliff. The near vertical rock face is located adjacent to the parking garage of the Infinity Development situated at 340 Old River Road in Edgewater, Bergen County, New Jersey.
JZN Engineering conducted a rock mapping investigation to obtain information regarding the rock face conditions, fractures and joints orientation and possible loose or unstable conditions across the rock face. JZN analyzed and utilized the observed engineering geologic conditions data and proposed a rock face stabilization design which included a system consisting of a rock anchor supported rock mesh and a rock barrier.
JZN provided construction quality and assurance services during the installation of the rock face stabilization system. Our services included the inspection of all anchor foundations, rock mesh, and rock barrier components.

The rock face stability assessment required the stabilization of an existing rock face cliff approximately 67 to 83 feet in vertical height and a span of 560 feet along an existing property located at 100 Paterson Plank Road in the City of Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. The site is bordered by Paterson Plank Road followed by rail road tracks to the east, the rock cliff followed by residential developments to the west, an empty heavily vegetated parcel to the south, and rock cliffs followed by Paterson Plank Road to the north.
JZN provided a visual inspection and review of the existing rock cliff stabilization components that included rock anchors, shotcrete and double-twist steel mesh rockfall netting. JZN recommendations included a combination of mechanical scaling of the rock cliff within unstable areas, removal of vegetation within the rock cliff face, and the implementation of steel mesh rockfall netting supported by rock anchors within unprotected areas.

The proposed development is located at 1300 Manhattan Avenue in the City of Union City, New Jersey. This site is situated along a near vertical rock face.
JZN Engineering conducted a rock mapping investigation to obtain information regarding the rock face conditions, fractures and joints orientation and possible loose or unstable conditions across the rock face. JZN analyzed and utilized the observed engineering geologic conditions data and proposed a rock face stabilization design which included a system consisting of a rock anchor supported pinned drapery, steel grid system.
JZN will provided construction quality and assurance services during the installation of the rock face stabilization system. Our services included the inspection of all anchor foundations, rock mesh, and rock barrier components. In addition, JZN provided a support of excavation (SOE) design consisting of soldier piles with rakers, walers, and tiebacks.
